International News MedMira Wins Contract for 1 Million Rapid HIV Tests to Be Sold in IndiaFebruary 7, 2007 On Tuesday, Halifax-based MedMira Inc. reported it has received a contract for 1 million rapid HIV tests from Venkateshwara Hatcheries Ltd, its distribution partner in India. The Indian company has interests in poultry and biotechnology; MedMira said the new deal "is a direct result of our business strategy to push forward in global markets with competitive pricing structures that result in high-volume orders." MedMira said its tests can detect HIV or hepatitis C in less than three minutes; it expects to begin shipping the tests within a few months.
