Thanes J. Vanig, M.D.
Dr. Vanig, who was born and raised in Thailand, earned his medical degree at Mahidol University in Bangkok, where he was awarded the nation's top scholarship from the King of Thailand. He then moved to the United States where he completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Mass., before moving on to Stanford University Medical School for his postdoctoral fellowship in Infectious Diseases. Dr. Vanig is board certified in Internal Medicine. He is a certified member of the American Academy of HIV Medicine and is also a member of HIV Medical Association, the International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care and the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association. Dr. Vanig has received two Phoenix-area community awards in the past two years for his service to the HIV community: AIDS Project Arizona awarded him its 2003 Leadership Award, and he earned an Unsung Hero Award from Phoenix Body Positive in 2002.
