M. Wayne Saville, M.D.

M. Wayne Saville, M.D.
Dr. Saville is an assistant adjunct professor of medicine at the University of California-San Diego (UCSD) Cancer Center. He has done extensive research on AIDS-related cancers, specifically Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He was the recipient of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Equal Employment Opportunity Achievement Award three years running, from 1993 to 1995.

After graduating with a BS in Medicine from Northwestern University, Dr. Saville received his medical degree at the Northwestern University School of Medicine. He served his residency in Internal medicine at the University of Minnesota Hospitals/School of Medicine, before completing his post-graduate duties as a fellow in Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute, part of the NIH. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.

Among his many affiliations at UCSD, Dr. Saville resides on the Dean's Advisory Committee for Clinical Research and the Cancer Center Protocol and Monitoring Committee. Also active outside the university, he is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Society for Clinical Oncology and the American Society for Hematology. He was named a fellow of the American College of Physicians in 1996. Dr. Saville has been awarded competitive research grants from the American Cancer Society and the NIH. He is currently serving as Principal Investigator for the National Cancer Institute-funded AIDS-Related Malignancies Consortium.

Dr. Saville has been widely published -- he is the author of numerous journal articles, abstracts, and letters on KS and other AIDS-related cancers and their treatment.
