Dr. Rodriguez-Torres maintains a private practice in Gastroenterology at Ashford Presbyterian Hospital and is the president of Fundacion Gastroenterologia de Diego and the Puerto Rico Medical Care Inc., a company which owns medical facilities throughout Puerto Rico. She is also a consultant for the American Disease Management of PR Inc., an AIDS organization.
Dr. Rodriguez-Torres received both her M.D. and completed her post graduate fellowship at the University of Puerto Rico. After finishing her residence in Internal Medicine at the University District Hospital, she went on to complete another fellowship in Gastroenterology, again at the University of Puerto Rico. Later, she became an Associate Professor of Medicine at the university. At the Ashford Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Rodriguez-Torres has also served as the Chairman for the Department of Medicine, Director of the Medical Education Section, and Director of the Hyperalimentation Team.
She has engaged in extensive research on Hepatitis C and many of her studies focused on possible treatments of this disease. Tied into her interests of HIV/HCV co-infection and managed care in HIV and HCV, she has also participated in numerous AIDS conferences and has published a variety of her abstracts.
Dr. Rodriguez-Torres has received funding for her research from Amgen Corporation and Roche Laboratories.
