Judith A. Aberg, M.D.
Dr. Judith A. Aberg is Principal Investigator, AIDS Clinical Trials Unit and Director of HIV, Bellevue Hospital Center at New York University. Dr. Aberg chairs the Complications Research Agenda Committee of the AIDS Clinical Trials Group, which focuses on the metabolic, cardiovascular, neurologic, renal and hepatic conditions associated with HIV infection and its treatment as well as opportunistic infections. Dr. Aberg's main research interests are in cardiovascular complications and opportunistic infections. Previously she was the Director of HIV Services at Washington University in St. Louis and before that she spent nearly five years as a member of the faculty at University of California, San Francisco, as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Co-Principal Investigator of the AIDS Clinical Trials Unit. Dr. Aberg received a degree in Medical Laboratory Technology in 1975 and worked in medical microbiology, during which time she developed curriculum and set up several mycology laboratories in hospitals. After 11 years of laboratory experience, she then entered medical school at Penn State University College of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at the Cleveland Clinic, where she then held a joint appointment as both Chief Medical Resident and Clinical Associate Staff in the Department of Rheumatology and Immunology (HIV Clinic). As a clinical associate she was involved in the HIV Center AIDS education programs for health care providers and the community, and clinical trials for HIV infected individuals. She completed a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the Washington University School of Medicine, St Louis. She is the author of numerous publications and abstracts. She is currently devoting much of her attention to directing the outpatient clinic at Washington University and working with the community on an effective HIV outreach campaign. |
