International News Health Canada Approves Abbott Diagnostic Instrument, HIV-1 and Hepatitis C TestsJanuary 10, 2007 On Monday, Abbott Laboratories Inc. and Celera Group announced that Health Canada had approved the Abbott m2000, an automated molecular diagnostic instrument, and the Abbott RealTime HIV-1 and hepatitis C viral load tests. The tests were developed for use on the m2000 instrument, which is used to conduct genetic testing in molecular laboratories. Abbott said the m2000 can measure viruses and bacteria in blood or plasma samples in five hours or less.
