International News HIV Incidence on Rise in RussiaNovember 14, 2006 The number of registered HIV cases in Russia has risen by 26,000 this year to 353,000, according to an official of the health and consumer rights authority Rospotrebnadzor. New cases totaled 33,000 in 2005 and 35,000 in 2004, the official said. Russia has allocated 200 million rubles ($7.5 million U.S.) for HIV prevention, and additional funds have been appropriated for diagnosing and treating patients.
