Supermodel Maggie Rizer Returns to Watertown, N.Y., Hometown to Film AIDS Documentary

November 3, 2006

Maggie Rizer -- who has appeared on the covers of Vogue, Mademoiselle, Harper's Bazaar and Allure magazines -- this week came back to hometown, Watertown, N.Y., to begin work on an AIDS documentary. AIDS activist Suzanne Engo, whose father is a former UN ambassador from Cameroon, is producing "Maggie and Me." Engo founded the New York AIDS Film Festival in 2003, and a clip from the upcoming documentary will be screened at the festival in December, where Rizer is to be honored for her work. Scenes will be filmed in Watertown and Cameroon. Rizer, a 1996 graduate of Watertown High School, lost her father to AIDS in 1992 at age 38. The film's director is Alexandra Kerry, daughter of Sen. John Kerry.
