New York: AIDS Walk Spreads Knowledge

September 29, 2006

The Hudson Valley AIDS Walk will take place tomorrow at Waryas Park in Poughkeepsie beginning at 9 a.m. Event sponsor AIDS-Related Community Services will share the proceeds with other agencies serving HIV patients and their families. In addition to HIV testing, a flea market and a raffle, the walk will feature a performance by folk music legend Pete Seeger, who is a resident of the town of Fishkill. For the first time, the walk this year will feature an "Ask Me" booth, where people living with HIV/AIDS will answer questions about the disease. "The idea is to go over the line of confidentiality," said Bill Primavera of ARCS. "These people are willing to put their names out there, have their pictures taken and talk to the public about their experiences." For more information, visit www.ARCS.org.
