U.S. to Provide $125 Million to Help Philippines Fight HIV/AIDS

Today in Manila, the U.S. Embassy announced the United States will provide $125 million to the Philippines in the next five years to improve public health and fight diseases, including HIV/AIDS, TB and bird flu. The money will be channeled through the U.S. Agency for International Development, which will fund projects to improve access to maternal, child health and family planning services and for disease prevention and control. U.S. Ambassador Kristie Kenney and Philippine Health Secretary Francisco Duque III are to sign the bilateral agreement Wednesday.
