AIDS Action Executive Director

AIDS Action, the nation's leading advocacy organization for federal AIDS policy and legislation, seeks a CEO. Based in Washington, D.C., AIDS Action is governed by a Board of Directors which includes representatives from diverse AIDS organizations and interests throughout the country.

Founded in 1984, AIDS Action has an annual operating budget of $2 million and a staff of 22, representing more than 1400 community-based AIDS service organizations and the vital interests of those most heavily impacted by HIV.

AIDS Action comprises AIDS Action Council, a 501(c)(4) organization and AIDS Action Foundation, a 501(c)(3) corporation. AIDS Action's programs include public policy analysis, lobbying, grassroots outreach, media relations and education.

Candidates must have 3-5 years experience successfully managing a not-for-profit organization of similar size and experience working with diverse coalitions. Required skills include financial and budget management; fund-raising, including working contacts within the foundation, corporate and individual donor communities; and excellent communication skills. The Executive Director should be a team builder, coach and highly skilled consensus manager.
