Academy Launches Reimbursement Hotline

Member Services

Fall 2001

As an exclusive service for our members, has begun taking toll-free calls to assist members with reimbursement issues related to providing HIV health care.

The Academy's current research regarding member needs has revealed that AAHIVM providers have many reimbursement questions and concerns related to coding and documentation. The Reimbursement Hotline has been established to provide assistance with billing operations, reimbursement issues, and coding by providing our members with resources and other information. The goal of the Reimbursement Hotline is to assist HIV health care providers with effective billing practice information so that they can be reimbursed appropriately.

Rheinisch Medical Management, Inc., specialists in medical reimbursement issues, will staff the Reimbursement Hotline. All information is intended to be consistent with CMS/Medicare and AMA coding guidelines. Reimbursement questions will be researched to enable hotline staff to address member inquiries appropriately.

How to Make a Reimbursement Hotline Inquiry Call

Dial 1-877-REIM HOT (1-877-734-6468). The call is toll-free.
  1. Listen to the short message.
  2. Leave a short message with the details of the problem you are reporting. A staff member will return your call within 72 hours with either
    • an answer or resource for your problem, or
    • an inquiry for more information

In either case, we will strive to give you the resources you need to solve your particular problem.

The Academy continues to identify and find solutions to problems encountered by HIV treatment providers endeavoring to deliver quality care to patients. Your comments and suggestions concerning the Reimbursement Hotline, or any other issue you would like addressed, are always welcome. You can contact us via e-mail at or, or by phone at 310-278-6380.
