On May 17, the Department of Human Resources announced that effective immediately, enrollment for the Georgia AIDS Drug Assistance Program will be capped at it's current levels and a waiting list will be instituted. This is a result of a budgetary shortfall of approximately $6 million that has been projected for some months now. This shortfall is due to a combination of minimal increases for this program from both a state and federal level. The program is currently serving some 4,500 Georgians living with HIV/AIDS. Over the next year, it is anticipated that as many as 1,000 additional individuals will need to access this program for medications. Take Action:
