Heartsong Atlanta 2000

September, 2000

Heartsong Atlanta 2000 is a four-day, three-night retreat, which will provide a safe environment where HIV-positive individuals can explore emotional and spiritual healing. The retreat is scheduled for October 23-26, 2000 at the Simpsonwood Conference and Retreat Center in nearby Norcross, Georgia.

The theme for Heartsong Atlanta is "Embracing Today, Preparing for Tomorrow." Program topics include "Celebrating Life -- Back to Life," "Home Again With Ourselves" and "Imagination Through Art Therapy." Retreat individuals will also participate in group support, peer counseling, recreational opportunities and individual quiet time, as well as a talent show and pumpkin-carving contest.

All participants at Heartsong Atlanta are provided scholarships for this retreat. To ensure equity among participants, an equal number of applications will be accepted through each of the following seven participating AIDS service organizations: Absolutely Positive, Absolute Wellness/The BRAC Center, AID Atlanta, AID Gwinnett, AIDS Survival Project, Atlanta Interfaith AIDS Network and Our Common Welfare.

HIV-positive individuals interested in attending Heartsong Atlanta 2000 should contact one of the organizations listed above for an application as soon as possible. Space will be limited and the application deadline is September 21, 2000.
