About AIDS Survival Project139 Ralph McGill Boulevard, Suite 201 As a membership organization comprised of HIV positive individuals and concerned friends, AIDS Survival Project plays an important role in the epidemic. Our purpose is to provide those of us affected by HIV disease with the information and the support we need to make well informed choices about our lives. This unique focus insures a passionate and committed response to the diverse and changing needs of people with HIV/AIDS, because their voices are our voices. The following free programs are available to our members and the community at large. AIDS Survival Project supports Unique Identifiers as a means of HIV surveillance.
Treatment Resource CenterThe Resource Center is open Monday - Wednesday 10 AM until 8 PM, and Thursday & Friday 10AM - 5PM.
Knowledge Is PowerThe Treatment Resource Center maintains extensive reference materials covering the entire scope of HIV disease. Major topics include medications, nutrition, complementary therapies, opportunistic infections and issues concerning special populations, including a section on Women and HIV and a section of resources en espaņol. Internet access is available free of charge. Our full-time Treatment Resource Specialist and volunteers are available to assist you in finding what you need. You are welcome to copy whatever information you find helpful.Over 250 files are maintained with the most current information available: articles from the medical journals, newspapers and magazines, as well as updates from the CDC and a wide range of research organizations. The information is filed alphabetically by subject matter and a general index list of all subjects on which we have information. The index is cross-referenced and updated regularly and frequently. Materials are filed in reverse chronological order so that the most recent information is in the front of the binder.
Treatment FilesInformation on all forms of therapy for HIV/AIDS, both standard and alternative. There are individual files for the most important therapies used in fighting the virus, including treatments used in Europe. In fact, alternative therapies are so often requested that these files make up more than 15 volumes of information. There is a "Summary Of Alternative Therapies" section with its own index.
Opportunistic Infections FilesMaterial on the latest therapies in the treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS specific infections.
Social Issues FilesArticles on social, political and economic issues related to HIV/AIDS, as well as information on methods of more positive living. Topic include legal issues such as employment, discrimination and the Americans with Disabilities Act and other issues for special populations.
PublicationsAIDS Survival Project subscribes to a number of periodicals and newsletters related to HIV/AIDS which are available for use at the Resource Center. These include BETA, AIDS Treatment News, GMHC Treatment Issues, Project Inform Perspective -- to name a few. All current and past issues are on file for your use.
