Annual Conference

BP Spotlight: Highlighting Programs and Services of Body Positive

February 2001

What Is This Year's Conference?

Each year, Body Positive sponsors a conference or forum on a current issue of relevance and importance to the HIV/AIDS community. The conference provides an opportunity for people involved in the field of HIV/AIDS to get together and have a dialogue on a particular issue.

This year's conference focuses on HIV Resistance and New Treatments. As we approach the third decade of living and dealing with this pandemic, new issues continue to emerge. A critical one is resistance: how do we control a virus that resists our every effort? How do we determine which medication may be best? How do we access this information and integrate it into our lives? Can re-infection occur with a resistant strain?

These are just a few of the questions being asked by doctors, clinicians, providers, and people who are infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. The conference will feature a number of experts in the field, including doctors, mental health providers, and others who are well-versed in these areas. Throughout the course of this conference, we hope to answer many of the common questions asked about resistance, and perhaps, to generate and explore new ones.

When Is It?

The conference will take place on Wednesday, March 14, 2001 from 10 am to 4 pm. It will be held at the Fordham University Lincoln Center Campus in midtown Manhattan. The conference will include a continental breakfast, lunch, and afternoon coffee.

Who Is It For?

The Body Positive conference is for anyone who would like to attend. We make an effort to choose issues that are relevant to health care providers, service providers, people with HIV/AIDS, and their loved ones. The conference is open to the public. However, advance registration is required.

How Much Does It Cost?

The conference is FREE! But you do need to register in order to ensure that a space is reserved for you.

How Do I Get Involved?
