St. Kitts: U.S. Embassy Sponsors Theatrical Play on AIDS

April 28, 2003

In an effort to educate people about HIV/AIDS, the US Embassy is sponsoring a play in seven eastern Caribbean countries about the life of a woman dying of the disease. "The Final Truth," which was presented in Basseterre, St. Kitts, on Friday and Saturday night, is meant to make people think about how their behavior could put them at risk of contracting HIV. Written by playwright Thom Cross and performed by a cast of 10, the play shows a woman telling her life story on video with flashbacks to her days as a student when she first met her husband. "The Final Truth," which has already been staged in Barbados, Dominica, St. Vincent and St. Lucia, next travels to Antigua and Grenada.
