TB Tests for California High School

January 15, 2003

Solano County, Calif., public health officials are planning skin tests for hundreds of people at Vacaville High School after learning a person there has developed multidrug-resistant TB. Health officials have identified about 460 people who may have had contact with the person, said Health Officer Dr. Tom Charron. So far, no other infections have been reported. The department sent 2,000 informational letters to parents and faculty, said county Health Education Director Robin Cox. Skin tests are set for Jan. 28; health workers will administer chest X-rays to anyone whose test shows likely exposure to TB.
