News Briefs Norman, Okla., Nurse Loses LicenseJanuary 31, 2003 On Thursday, the Oklahoma Board of Nursing revoked the
license of a Norman nurse anesthetist accused of infecting dozens
of patients with hepatitis C by reusing needles and syringes. The
board also fined him nearly $100,000. The five-year licensure
revocation of James Charles Hill is the maximum allowed under
state statutes, although board members said they will petition
the Legislature for harsher punishments for similar
transgressions. Board investigator Betty Smelser said Hill told
her he will never seek reinstatement.
