Colorado: Delta Prison Cleared After Tuberculosis Investigation

July 11, 2003

Colorado health officials have cleared the Delta Correctional Center following an investigation that began after three inmates tested positive for TB. In April, the Corrections Department began working with the state Department of Public Health and Environment and CDC to test all inmates, staff and volunteers at the prison. During the testing, 23 inmates and two staff members tested positive for the disease. Results of the testing suggest that no one at the center posed a health risk, said state medical officer Dr. Ned Calonge.
