The newly formed University of California-Davis AIDS Clinical Trials Unit has started a study to learn whether patients with HIV who have never been treated and are admitted to a hospital with an AIDS-related infection should be given antiretroviral drugs immediately or after treatment for the acute infection is completed. The unit, housed at the Center for AIDS Research, Education and Services, now has 10 clinical trials open for people infected with the virus. The unit hopes to recruit up to 100 trial participants per year. For more information, telephone 916-914-6322 or visit www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/actu.
