Ministry of Health Official: No Reports of AIDS Patients Infected With SARS on Chinese Mainland

June 4, 2003

Sun Xinhua, an official from the Chinese Ministry of Health's disease control bureau, said today the ministry has received no reliable reports of any AIDS patient infected with SARS. A male AIDS patient from Shanxi Province who had been diagnosed with SARS was later found to have pneumonia due to immune deficiency, and antibiotics have improved his condition, Sun said.
