Uganda Imports 80 Million Condoms to Help Fight AIDS

June 5, 2003

The newspaper New Vision reported today that the Ugandan government has imported 80 million condoms to help fight AIDS. The condoms are to be distributed at all hospitals in the country, according to Minster of State Health Mike Mukula. "AIDS is real. Many Ugandans have been infected and others affected. People in position to assist orphans, please assist generously for they are our own children," Mukula said at a concert benefiting the nation's approximately 2 million AIDS orphans.
