News Briefs HIV in North DakotaMarch 18, 2003 The North Dakota Department of Health reported 22 new HIV infections last year, a state health official said. Karin Mongeon, North Dakota's HIV/AIDS program manager, said this compares to 17 new HIV infections in 2001. A total of 302 HIV cases have been reported in the state since 1984. "Because of the small numbers reported, caution must be used when making inferences from this data," said Mongeon. The Department of Health urges those at risk for contracting HIV to seek testing.
