Reported TB cases dropped last year in Wyoming and throughout the nation, according to a new report from CDC. In 2002, only three TB cases were reported in Wyoming, down from eight in 1992. TB program manager for the Wyoming Department of Health Alex Bowler said that the state has the fewest of 15,078 active TB cases in the country. Bowler credited preventive programs in the state for the near disappearance of the disease. "We've been doing this kind of prevention for a decade. I like to think it's having the right effect," said Bowler. The report said minorities, inmates, HIV patients, homeless people, drug addicts and alcoholics have the highest rate of TB infection. "Our rate is amazing because we have a Native American population and we have a homeless population," Bowler said.
