Connecticut: Testing of Students Finds No Active TB

May 15, 2003

A month after a student at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk, Conn., was discovered to have active TB, none of the hundreds of other students tested has been found to have an active case. Fifteen students tested positive for TB over the past two weeks. Six of the 15 students who tested positive had been in contact with the student with TB, said Darlene Hoffler, city supervisor of clinical services. All the students who tested positive must have a chest X-ray by a physician. Overall, 515 students, faculty and staff were tested.
