Massachusetts will get more than $60 million from the Department
of Housing and Urban Development to build affordable homes and assist
the homeless and people with HIV/AIDS. The largest portion of the
grant, $39.8 million, is a community development block grant that
allows state and local governments to rehabilitate affordable housing
or provide business opportunities for lower income families and
neighborhoods. The allocation includes a $1.1 million grant designed to
provide rental assistance and support services to people with HIV/AIDS.
