November 21, 2003

On Thursday, the Pfizer Foundation announced it had awarded two grants totaling nearly $90,000 to two Alabama HIV/AIDS prevention groups. Montgomery-based Aid to Inmate Mothers will receive $48,864 for its HIV prevention education classes given to inmates, officers and staff at the women's Tutwiler Prison in Wetumpka. Mobile AIDS Support Services will receive $40,000 for its education program targeting black women ages 19-29 in Mobile. The grants are part of a $3 million, three-year foundation initiative to fund targeted prevention programs in underserved populations in nine Southern states, Pfizer spokesperson Caroline Roan said.
