Prevention/Epidemiology Alaska: Chlamydia Cases Rise by Nearly 200October 10, 2003 Of all infectious diseases in Alaska, chlamydia again ranks the highest -- up from 1,753 cases in 2002 to 1,937 in 2003, from January to June -- according to the 2003 semi-annual report by the state Division of Public Health Section of Epidemiology. Also noted in the report were 493 cases of hepatitis C (representing prevalent cases in 2003, not incidence of new disease); 277 cases of gonorrhea; and 26 cases of tuberculosis. The report noted that because not all cases are reported, the figures represent trends, rather than actual incidences.
