Position Description

Provide on-going support, education, and assist individuals in successfully participating in the AT LAST clinical trial. Act as an advocate for HIV-infected women and men who are enrolled in the study. Coordinate and facilitate support groups and conference calls for the participants. Serve as a link between the participants and the Clinical Trial Staff.

Responsibilities Include

• Provide information to study participants and assist them in advocating for their overall health needs.
• Develop, establish, and maintain ongoing one-on-one peer relationships with study participants.
• Assess individuals needs, identify potential barriers that may prevent individuals from participating in the study, and assist individuals with problem solving regarding barriers to clinical trial participation.
• Provided Peer-to-Peer emotional support for study participants.
• Provide participants with information and support regarding the AT LAST clinical trial, treatment and compliance issues.
• Develop, coordinate and facilitate phone and support groups with study participants.
• Provide referrals and coordinate services with study participants as needed, as well as with Clinical trial staff.
• Maintain documentation and study participant support-activity files.
• Report to the Women Alive National Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Advance knowledge of HIV/AIDS, treatments, and clinical trials and STRONG ADVOCACY SKILLS.
• Must be able to work with diverse populations.
• Self motivated, able to work independently as part of the organizational and study team, as well as with and without supervision.
• Life experience is essential.
• Must be willing to carry a beeper (and be on-call).
