Prevention/Epidemiology South Carolina African-American HIV/AIDS Council Uses Forum for EducationSeptember 25, 2003 Officials from the SC African-American HIV/AIDS Council say far too few people are paying attention to the epidemic, which is particularly ravaging the black population. "Our people perish for lack of knowledge," said Dr. Bambi Sumpter-Gaddist, the organization's executive director. SCAAHAC, in collaboration with corporate and local sponsors, will hold a town hall meeting to address HIV/AIDS in Orangeburg County on Thursday, Sept. 25, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at Utopia Restaurant, 7272 Old State Rd., Holly Hill. Information will be presented on HIV and other STDs, ways to access health resources, the latest on prevention and treatment, and the church's role in prevention.
