New York: Ministry Will Expand Its AIDS Role

February 25, 2004

In a ceremony Friday, City of Buffalo officials including Mayor Anthony Masiello and Councilmember Antoine Thompson (Masten District) were present when a $60,000 grant was awarded to GROUP Ministries. The federal Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA) block grant will help provide 150 people with a variety of services in the coming year, said Camille Hopkins, the city's HOPWA grant coordinator. The Rev. Arthur Boyd, president and CEO of GROUP Ministries, said the organization has operated several AIDS-related programs for more than a decade. The ministry is also involved in an emergency shelter program.
