On Monday, the French government announced it would give 5 million euros (US$6.3 million) for the fight against HIV/AIDS over the next 18 months. Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin made the announcement following a meeting with Bernard Kouchner, former minister of health and principal of the French-created humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders.
