Philadelphia AIDS Consortium Receives $1 Million Grant

June 15, 2004

The Philadelphia AIDS Consortium (PAC) is the recipient of a three-year, $1 million grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service to fund its AmeriCorps community volunteer service program. The grant will enable people with HIV/AIDS to assist others in getting care through the Access to Care Through Service program, an effort the consortium introduced in 1998. PAC Executive Director Larry Hochendonerm announced the grant Thursday night at a Philadelphia community meeting. "It allows the HIV/AIDS community to help its own members by providing the resources, support and dignity necessary for self-empowerment and action," he said.
