South Africa: Funerals Point to Toll From AIDS

March 23, 2004

In a reminder of the toll HIV/AIDS is taking on the country, a survey published Saturday showed that South Africans spend more time at funerals than other activities outside of work. South Africa has more people living with HIV/AIDS than any country, with an estimated 5.3 million of its 45 million people infected.
