International News South African Business Grouping Launches Anti-AIDS "Toolkit"May 27, 2004 The South African Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS has introduced a toolkit to help companies address the disease among their workers. The group's CEO, Brad Mears, said that only 41 percent of South African companies have implemented policies on HIV/AIDS, and only 18 percent of firms have programs encouraging workers to undergo voluntary HIV testing. The toolkit includes posters, brochures and a video. "It shows how to formulate a budget, develop and introduce an HIV/AIDS policy, set up a steering committee, a trainer and workplace champion," Mears said. Not implementing a policy on the epidemic will cost companies more in the long run, said Gaby Magomola, who chairs the business coalition.
