International News Number of Lithuania's HIV Patients Nearing 1,000September 3, 2004 About 30 new HIV cases were reported in June and July in Lithuania. More than 900 HIV infections have been recorded since the country's first case was identified in 1988. From a total of 916 infections, 737 resulted from needle sharing, 78 from heterosexual sex, and 66 from homosexual sex.
