South China Autonomous Region Records 3,000 More HIV-PositiveApril 5, 2005 The Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in South China reported 3,377 new HIV patients in 2004, the local AIDS control body said. This is an increase of 245 from 2003 and is four times the number of cases reported in 2000. The region's total number of HIV cases, 11,979, is China's third-highest after Yunnan and Henan provinces. Young people comprise the majority of the region's cases, the authority said.
