International News Ugandan Government to Provide More People With ARV TreatmentApril 7, 2005 The Ugandan government will provide free antiretrovirals (ARVs) to more than 10,000 civil servants out of consideration of their vital role in policy making, planning and evaluation, Minister of State for Economic Monitoring Omwony Ojwok said Wednesday. Ojwok noted that the government intends to ramp-up treatment in all sectors, with the number of Ugandans on ARVs projected to climb from the current level of 45,000 to 60,000 by year's end.
