International News Canada: Get Tested for HIV, Pamela Anderson UrgesJune 6, 2005 On Saturday at Toronto's Fashion Cares AIDS benefit, Pamela Anderson called on Canadians to be tested for HIV, noting that even married people can be at risk due to infidelity. "Get past the stigma because it's not a gay man's disease. Actually, women and children are the fastest group of people getting it," she said. "Even though its never good news to find out you have AIDS, there is life after it," said Anderson, who is the new spokesperson for MAC Cosmetics' Viva Glam lipstick. For the past 11 years, all proceeds from the sale of the lipstick -- $59 million Canadian ($47 million US) -- have been donated to people living with HIV/AIDS. "Since Pam has been the spokesperson, we have raised $1.8 million Canadian ($1.45 million US) - in just one month we had a 200 percent increase in Viva Glam sales," said MAC President John Demsey.
