Guatemala: HIV-Positive Residents Protest U.S.-Supported Trade Rules

In Guatemala City, dozens of HIV-positive residents protested U.S.-supported trade rules that they say will deprive them of AIDS medicines. Under U.S. pressure, Guatemala in early March approved a law offering international pharmaceutical makers greater protection from cheaper competitors. The government passed the measure to facilitate approval of the controversial Central America Free Trade Agreement.
