Wisconsin: AIDS Walkers Brave Storms

September 30, 2005

Slightly more than 2,500 people took part in the 16th annual AIDS Walk Wisconsin along Milwaukee's lakefront Sunday, Sept. 25, despite rainstorms and fog. The walk raised $383,028 for the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin and HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care centers across the state. "We were a little bit down in terms of people. ... Obviously, the weather didn't help," said Kate Venne, public affairs director for ARCW. Last year, the walk drew more than 2,600 participants and raised more than $414,000.
