Mexico to Host 2008 AIDS Conference

August 14, 2006

In Toronto at the opening of the 16th International AIDS Conference, the International AIDS Society announced that the next such gathering will be held in Mexico City Aug. 3-8, 2008. Staging the event in Mexico -- the first Latin American nation to host the international gathering -- will spotlight the epidemic's impact on the region and on the Caribbean with the goal of charting "a course for a stronger and more effective global response to the pandemic," said Pedro Cahn, chairperson of AIDS 2008 and president-elect of IAS.
