World Bank Approves Loans to India

August 28, 2006

The World Bank has approved $672 million in loans to help India improve health care for women and children and to fight TB. The funding had been delayed by a bank investigation into allegations of wrongdoing in a previous project. A statement from the bank said it and the government had agreed on a plan to address collusion and corruption in health sector procurement.
