Number of AIDS Patients in Estonia Continues to Grow

Estonia recorded 30 new AIDS cases in 2005, four more than in 2004, according to the health inspectorate. The increase was smaller than the one in 2004, when 16 more cases were recorded than in 2003. Seventeen of the new 2005 cases were found in Ida-Viru, the county from which HIV first began to spread in Estonia. The nation has documented a total of 100 cases thus far.
