Dr. Mark R. Dybul Nominated to Head Global AIDS Office

On Monday, President Bush nominated Dr. Mark R. Dybul to be US Global AIDS coordinator. If his nomination is ratified by the Senate, Dybul will succeed retired pharmaceutical executive Randall Tobias at the State Department post, which has the rank of ambassador. The coordinator heads the $15 billion President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, which focuses assistance to the developing world, particularly Africa. Dybul currently serves as acting US global AIDS coordinator and is chief medical officer at the State Department.
