According to UNAIDS' new report on the epidemic, 85,000 adults and children in Pakistan are living with HIV/AIDS. Of those with the disease, 84,000 are people age 15 and older, of whom 14,000 are women. HIV prevalence among those ages 15-49 is 0.1 percent. The number of cases is up from 2003, when 55,000 people ages 15-49 were infected; 7,300 of these patients were women. About 3,000 people died of AIDS in 2005 -- double the number who died in 2003.
