European Union Gives €2 Million in Emergency Aid to Mozambique

March 15, 2006

On Monday, the European Commission said it was providing €2 million ($2.4 million US) in aid to drought-stricken central and southern regions of Mozambique. The assistance includes access to safe water and information about water chlorination, public health, and HIV prevention. The new funding is in addition to €15 million ($18 million US) the European Union provides each year to improve Mozambique's food security.
