U.S. News Illinois: 6th Annual AIDS Lobby Day Draws AdvocatesMarch 9, 2006 On March 1, nearly 200 AIDS activists gathered in Springfield for the 6th annual "Caring for Our Communities HIV/AIDS Lobby Day." The advocates called on Gov. Rod Blagojevich and the General Assembly to keep the Illinois AIDS Drug Assistance Program solvent in 2007. AIDS Foundation of Chicago Executive Director Mark Ishaug praised the governor for including a $2 million increase for ADAP in his 2007 budget but said the program needs at least $1 million more. ADAP provides assistance to more than 3,000 Illinois residents. State Sen. Mattie Hunter and state Reps. Sara Feigenholtz, Connie Howard and Larry McKeon joined the advocates in the rotunda of the state capitol.
