International News Motorola to Join Bono in AIDS FightMay 16, 2006 Motorola, the world's second-largest mobile phone maker, is expected to become the fifth major corporate partner of Project Red, a brand that donates a percentage of sponsor profits to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria. Project Red was launched in January by U2 lead singer Bono and others to appeal to consumers' social conscience and raise money for global disease-fighting efforts. Motorola will offer a red version of its mobile phone model Slvr. The red phone will join a red American Express credit card; a Gap T-shirt made in Africa; Armani sunglasses that feature the Product Red logo; and Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star sneakers done in an African motif. The red Slvr is expected to be sold in Europe first and later in North America, said a source close to Motorola.
